The sixth Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting for the EU-funded project “Improved Implementation of the EU Floods Directive through Harmonization of National Legislation and Preparation of Flood Risk Management Plans” was held on September 22, 2026, at Hotel Solun in Skopje.

Key stakeholders participated in the meeting, including representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (MoEPP), the Central Financing and Contracting Department (CFCD), the Hydrometeorological Service (HMS), the Ministry of European Affairs (MEA), and members of the project team. Participants reviewed the progress achieved during the February–May 2026 period and discussed planned activities for the next six months of project implementation.

Project experts provided an overview of the work carried out in the first quarter of 2026, highlighting the preparatory steps taken to align North Macedonia’s national legislation with the EU Floods Directive and to lay the foundations for effective flood risk management planning. The project also announced a second international study visit, this time to Spain that is scheduled to take place in November 2026. This study visit is one of the project’s key activities, aimed at enhancing institutional knowledge and capacity through the exchange of experiences with EU member states regarding flood risk management and the implementation of the EU Floods Directive.
